I am sure you have all heard by now, our friends at Owl Central Games are moving to a new location. A lot of you are concerned that the group we have built will slowly fade into the night. Thankfully, that could not be further from the truth. Things will continue, just a little differently.
Where are we going to meet and play? This is the question I have heard the most over the last few weeks. The Berks Bolt Action admins have been working on a plan and now we get to tell you what we have been working on for the last month.
1. Owl Central Games – Owl Central Games will be supporting Bolt Action just like they have from the beginning. I will continue to be the “Sarge” for the store and run a monthly tournament. Wes and the Owl gang will be working on filling out the schedule with events for a variety of games. We know it is farther to drive for some people, but the new store promises to provide an even better gaming experience. As always they will have open gaming tables on most days (event days being the possible exception).
2. Oakbrook Brewery – Oakbrook Brewery has agreed to allow the Berks gamers to schedule tabletop gaming events a few times a month. Our first dedicated Bolt Action day is Sunday January 19th. In addition the Brewery’s second floor is being remodeled into a dedicated gaming space, which will allow for open gaming most days during normal business hours. I would also like to point out that Owl Central Games has happily offered some prize support for our monthly Bolt Action days at Oakbrook. The raffles will continue!!!
3. Winterblast, Spring Assault, and more – Do not forget Winterblast and Spring Assault will feature a Bolt Action tournament twice a year. Historicon, Cold Wars, and Fall In! also feature some very well-run tournaments by our friend, Mike Proctor.
4. Other locations – We have not given up looking for space at other locations. However with Oakbrook and Owl Central’s commitment to us we feel like another space would only be necessary in rare cases. More on this to follow.
If we support Owl Central and Oakbrook Brewing they will support us as well. I know the situation is difficult for a lot of people. I understand all of the different emotions everyone is feeling. Just understand that we are working incredibly hard to make the transition as easy on everyone as we possibly can. Hang in there and get ready to play some games.
We may even have some new surprises pop up from time to time.
